The Story

Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is a lovely lot of two Soviet WWII rounds, including a 25mm likely for the 25mm automatic air defense gun M1940, and a 14.5mm cartridge for the KPV heavy machine gun. Like all deactivated ordnance, these rounds are Not Available for Export.

The 25mm round measures 9⅜” long and the black projectile is loose, but not removable. The bottom of the casing is crudely marked 606 / 48.

The 14.5mm round measures 6¼” and is marked on the side 14.5m/m Russian A.A.M.G., which would identify it as being for the KPV heavy machine gun.

A very nice lot of Soviet rounds, ready for further research and display.

The KPV heavy machine gun is a Soviet designed 14.5Ă—114mm-caliber heavy machine gun, which first entered service as an infantry weapon (designated PKP) in 1949. In the 1960s, the infantry version was taken out of production because it was too large and heavy. It was later redesigned for anti-aircraft use, as it showed excellent results as an AA gun against low flying aircraft, with a range of 3,000 m (9,800 ft) horizontally and 2,000 m (6,600 ft) vertically. It was used in the ZPU series of anti-aircraft guns. Its size and power also made it a useful light anti-armour weapon on the BTR series of vehicles and the BRDM-2 scout car.
