Original Swiss M1881 Leather-Covered Glass Canteen with Retained Cork - Scarce

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very scarce example of what we believe to be a Swiss Model 1881 Leather-covered glass canteen. From what we’ve found in our research, there is some debate as to whether these are Swiss M1881s or Prussian M1867s, but as we’ve had an M1867 before, we believe this to be the former.

The canteen is in great condition with the leather covering still well-retained with knotted leather around the throat. The canteen retains its “bike bell” cork, the metal bowl meant to prevent chipping of the throat. The cork itself shows heavy degradation. The canteen retains the four leather loops for attachment of a carrying strap.
