Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very lovely piece that isn’t quite military, but is certainly of the period based on its construction, a gorgeous Revolutionary War Era trunk which is covered with deerhide and trimmed at the edge of the lid with chevroned leather. The trunk measures 18" x 9½" x 8”.
The trunk is constructed of wood covered with deerhide and affixed with leather bands by tacks, with a gorgeous zig-zag or chevroned pattern of leather trim along the edge. Both handles are still intact and are period with crude nails affixing them. The interior is empty with a recently-added strap to hold it in the open position without damaging the hinges.
The trunk has a lock system with a still-intact latch, but the lock is not currently functional as far as we can tell. The trunk is in great condition for its age with some deer fur still intact at certain spots.
This is a lovely trunk that certainly dates to around the period of the American Revolutionary War, perfect for display with your collection. Comes ready for further research and display.
