Original U.S. American Revolutionary War Era Rifleman’s Belt Bag Set with Powder Horn & Two Shot Pouches - Glass Spout on Pouch

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a stunning example of an early American-Made Militia rifleman’s bag with a period correct powder horn and two shot pouches, one of which has shot. The leather of the bag has held up tremendously well. One of the shot pouches also has a glass spout, wow!

The rifleman’s bag is a very interesting example that was never made with a carrying strap and instead has two long belt loops for attachment to the belt. The front flap has a great stitched-on front pouch, the ends of which has been slit into tassels. The leather is actually pliable in spots but as it’s incredibly old we wouldn’t recommend testing that too much.

The powder horn is a gorgeous well-used example with heavy wear and marks, with the retaining loop and ring still installed on the wooden bottom. There is a great carved wooden spout. Great carving work, this is a true one-looker. The horn measures roughly 9½” long.

The first shot pouch has a wooden spout and wooden plug, and is still full of shot, however, this is likely later-added. This one is 5” long with the plug. The second shot pouch is a great empty example with a GLASS spout which was likely repurposed from a broken bottle, and a wooden plug, what a great variation! 6¾” with the plug. 

This is a lovely set that requires some love and care. A great Revolutionary War era rifleman’s set, ready for further research and display.
