Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is an outstanding lot of AAF Manuals and books with some fantastic reference information and diagrams. Two of the manuals are even named, with the B-24 Manual in particular being identified to a Pilot in the 568th Bomb Squadron, 390th Bomb Group.
The lot includes:
- B-17 Manual - Training Manual for the iconic Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bomber of the US Army Air Force. This 200+ page manual is dated October 1944, and contains some of the history of the B-17 followed by the technical and advisory content needed by the pilot to successfully command his aircraft. The book has heavy wear with some tearing along the edges but all pages appear retained. There are some tape repairs.
- B-24 Manual - Training Manual for the iconic Boeing B-24 Liberator bomber of the US Army Air Force. This 250+ page manual is dated October 1944, and contains some of the history of the B-24 followed by the technical and advisory content needed by the pilot to successfully command his aircraft. This example is named and identified on the interior cover to Pilot Robert L. Datz, Irwin, PA, 568th Bomb Squadron, 390th Bomb Group. A great research project!
- Instrument Flying - Basic and Advanced - Technical Order No. 30-11A-1. This is a great manual with fantastic illustrations and cartoons that make it easily digestible. It’s named to A/C J.H. Smallwood, a good research project.
- Air Navigation - Army Air Forces Training Command. A fantastic 300+ publication for Navigator training. There is a folded up diagram on the last few pages which has broken off.
- Bombing Student’s Manual - The front and back cover is coming off of the book. Goes through the history of aerial bombing in World War I and the interwar, a fantastic 300+ publication.
- TARGET: GERMANY, The Army Air Forces’ official story of the VIII Bomber Command’s first year over Europe. Published in 1943, this is a fantastic paperback book detailing the 8th Air Force’s operations from 1942-1943. 121 pages with great stories, illustrations, and the final page in the back shows a great collage of nose art!
