The Story

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a stellar plain copper powder flask with an outstanding Japanned finish manufactured by the American Flask & Cap Company, which was a short-lived manufacturing company that only produced flasks from 1857 until its dissolution in 1865. This example retains most of the japanning with an original period green woven carrying rope through all four suspension rings.

The flask is marked on the cap AM. FLASK & CAP CO.. The pouring cap has the desired powder amounts stamped on to allow for proper pour rates and is also stamped AM. FLASK & CAP CO.. The cap screws on and off perfectly with no issue. The spring is present and still strong, the flask functions well as intended. There is no powder remaining in the flask. This example dates to the Civil War period and cannot be later as the company ceased production in 1865.

The original green woven carrying strap is wrapped around the throat. A very beautiful flask that will fit well into any Civil War or 19th Century firearm collection! The flask measures roughly 8” in length.
