Original U.S. Civil War M-1851 Regulation Belt Buckle - Ex-Rosensteel Collection - Recovered at Gettysburg

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. The Round Top Museum was a Gettysburg Battlefield visitor attraction established by John H. Rosensteel in 1888 on the north foot of Little Round Top near the Round Top Station and northeast of the Wheatfield Road and Grand Central Avenue (now Sedgwick Av) intersection. The museum of Battle of Gettysburg artifacts was in Rosensteel's 1884 frame home and served as the "Round Top inn" restaurant/small hotel.

This is a great M-1851 Regulation belt buckle which is missing the wreaths entirely, with shadows in the spot where they were. This buckle and catch came to us as having been from the Rosensteel Collection, which was made up of battlefield-recovered relics taken from the Gettysburg Battlefield as early as the 1880s. The buckle is in good shape with heavy wear and small remnants of a sticker tag to the back. The catch is faintly stamped O.F..
