Original item: Only One Available. Here we have a very nice original Eagle Headed U.S. Non-Commissioned Officer's sword from the early 1800s. This exact pattern is of the 1821 regulation. The gilt of the hand guard is heavily worn. The hilt has a very nice "closed mouth" Eagle head pommel. The grip is wood, so we believe this to be more of a Non-Commissioned Officer’s sword. The eagle's head is very well executed, with a lovely antiqued brass patina. The blade is still tight to the hilt.
The ricasso of the 29¾” straight blade bears the Weyersberg king’s head which was used until 1883 when that company merged with Kirschbaum. The blade bears lovely patriotic etchings that are a bit too faint to see properly. The blade is still straight without any serious deviation.
A very lovely 1820s sword with a Weyersberg-marked blade. Comes ready for further research and display.
Specifications:
Blade Length: 29 3/4”Â
Blade Style: Single Edged Saber with Fuller
Overall length: 34 1/2”
