The Story

Original Item. Only One Available. Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice condition U.S. Navy Officer's M-1902 white-topped visor cap constructed of bright white cotton, intended to be worn by a Warrant officer (crossed anchor insignia). This example is particularly well made, with the officer's front insignia features brass anchors, with a gilt chinstrap held in by two gilt Navy buttons.

The cap features a patent leather visor. The brown leather sweatband is stitched to the body of the hat, and is in very good condition. The crown of the cap is lined with white fabric which is now showing heavy fraying of the material on the interior. The sweatband is marked with a maker’s mark reading:

JACOB REED’S SONS
FOUNDED 1824
PHILADELPHIA

The front of the cap bears the correct Navy crossed anchor insignia, with a gold bullion adjustable chinstrap and two U.S. Navy side buttons. No major moth issues to report, the hat is sound, not crushed or broken. Size is approximately US 7 (56cm)

A great example to pick up a rare cap from the WWI Era!
