Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely example of the scarcely seen M1908 Horse saddle blanket. The blanket is rectangular and has two stripes of olive brown at each end. A large US and the ordnance bomb (bursting shell) are embroidered in the center. There is no maker’s mark, but there is a very small name tag stitched on, T.A. BLUNK. This particular type of horse blanket was used from its conception in 1908 to the demise of the horse cavalry in 1942.
The blanket measures roughly 68 x 74”, but this is likely not exact due to the sheer size. There is a field repair near the edge of the blanket, a small reddish rectangular patch over a tear.
A lovely scarce blanket, ready for further research and display.
