Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a large Cow Horn Powder Flask, measuring 16 inches in overall length, one of the longest we’ve ever offered. While possibly intended for a musket or other small arms, this size would sometimes be used for cannon priming. The end of the horn is fitted with a thick rounded wooden bottom with a small metal loop attached. Attached to this and the throat of the horn is what we believe to be a period-original leather carrying strap, something we never seen retained on these. There does appear to have been a large break at the center which was tied together.
The horn retains its original wooden plug which interestingly has some carved threading of its own to allow for easier removal.
