The Story

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a very interesting Revolutionary War era socket bayonet which had its socket heavily cut down for use as a polearm. There is a small screw in the side of the cut-down socket which was meant to affix it to the pole.

The 13½” blade shows heavy wear and oxidation, and is marked on the ricasso P over an indecipherable letter. We are not sure what this marking indicates.

The overall length of the bayonet is 15½”. It has heavy wear and pitting across its construction. One of the most interesting socket bayonets we have offered, ready for further research and display.

Specifications:
Blade Length: 13½"
Blade Style: Socket
Overall length: 15½“
