Original U.S. Revolutionary War Period York County Pennsylvania 3rd Generation Powder Horn - Circa 1775-1800

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a tremendously scarce powder horn with a lovely ornamented wooden base often associated with York County, Pennsylvania. This horn likely dates to the last quarter of the 18th century, roughly 1775 to 1800 or so, and uses a classic York County domed base plug with turned grooves, a raised band, and chip carving. This example does not have the later screw tips, which is why we believe it to be of the Revolutionary period.

The horn measures 10 ¼” long and is in fair condition with a very large crack in the horn near the base. There is no plug in the spout. There is a small metal loop next to the spout for the attachment of a carry strap.

This is an extremely scarce horn to find in any condition, identified to York County, Pennsylvania. The surface of the wood and the horn is very good and the color is pleasing. Comes ready for further research and display.
