The Story

Original Item. Only One Available. This is an excellent Mills style Web Ammunition belt for the Trapdoor Springfield rifle with a New York belt buckle used by troops of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 47th, 65th, 69th, and 71st New York Volunteer Infantry Regiments during the Spanish American War and the Philippine Insurrection.

The belt is a lovely dark web material and has spaces for 50 .45-70 cartridges. The finish on the belt buckle is a bit worn but has a nice patina. The web belt is soft and pliable and in fine condition with no rips, holes or fraying. This example has a great Trapdoor bayonet wire chape for attachment, which we never see on these. The back of the NY buckle has great patent markings:

ANSON MILLS PAT. FEB. 1, 1881.
T.C. ORNDORFF SOLE MANF.
WORCESTER, MASS.
U.S.A.

This example even has a spent .45-70 casing in one of the loops, marked U.S.C. CO for United States Cartridge Co. A great New York Spanish American War belt, ready for further research and display.
