Original Item. Only One Available. This is an outstanding Spanish-American War era Brigadier General’s M1895 Sack Coat to a General serving out of the state of Maryland. This could either denote his rank of Brigadier General in the Maryland National Guard, or perhaps he held a position in the Maryland National Guard’s staff. This example is missing all front buttons.
The jacket has gorgeous bullion MD. collar insignia directly-embroidered to the collar, denoting the State of Maryland. Each shoulder has a gorgeous sewn shoulder board with a single star, denoting the rank of Brigadier General.
The interior shows great service wear and a maker’s label for the New York Clothing House at Baltimore, Maryland. There is no name we could find on the interior but it shows heavy service wear and displays very well. The jacket is missing every front button, but thanks to the design of the M1895 Sack Coat, it still displays well despite this.
A great Maryland General’s sack coat, ready for further research and display.
