Original U.S. Vietnam M-438 Signal Lamp Equipment SE-11 in Carrying Bag

Original Item: Only One Available. The M-438 Signal Lamp Equipment is very similar to the WWII M-227 Version and this general design was used from WWII well into the Vietnam War.

This example of the Signal Lamp Equipment SE-11, issued one per Parachute Infantry Rifle Company as part of the SE-11 Signal Lamp Equipment Set (as stated in TO/E 7-37, Infantry Rifle Company, Parachute). The set appears to be complete, with the original goggles as well. 

The original J-51 hand key is intact, along with some wiring, a filter in the original box, and the original manual, TM 11-5850-201-12. The bag is also in good shape with a 1968 contract date on the back.

The SE-11 was a portable field signal device for transmitting messages by means of white or red flashes of light in International Morse code. This device had 3 methods of operation. 1- It could be wielding much as a gun by raising with the gunstock (M-341) to the shoulder and operating the trigger of the trigger box assembly to produce light flashes. 2 - It could be operated at a remote control distance up to 15 feet by using the cord and the hand key. 3- It could be used from a distance of one half mile or more by means of a pair of telephone or other well-insulated wires, triggered by touching the bare ends of the wires together to produce light flashes.
