Original U.S. Vietnam War Airplane Crash Pioneer Tool Kit Survival Axe, Shovel, & Saw in Original Shipping Box - NOS - Dated April 1965

Original Item: Only One Available. Officially Termed the "TOOL KIT, PIONEER, GENERAL UTILITY", this is a very nice Vietnam War Era Airplane Crash survival set, complete in its original shipping box, in New Old Stock condition. These sets were intended to help in the event of a crash or bail out, and would help the user to construct basic shelters in the field.

This example consists of a handle with a rubber grip and green-painted wooden pommel, and has two attachments: a shovel head and a combination axe head & saw. The axe head also has a can opener and hammer end built onto it, so it can be used in many ways. The axe head still has the original tape wrapped around the blade. Larger vehicles would be equipped with much larger and more extensive kits, but these were perfect for aircraft.

The carrier of this example is a smaller canvas bag with a tightening string, not the snap holster that we normally see.

Condition of the set is unissued. The first set we have offered with its original box. The bag that had the carrying bag inside has a date of April 1965.
