The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. The AN-M8 HC Smoke Grenade designated as the Army/Navy Model 8 HC Smoke Grenade (AN-M8 Smoke HC) is a US military grenade used as a ground-to-ground obscuring or screening device or a ground-to-air signaling or target-marking device.

Unloaded or dummy grenades, artillery shell casings, and similar devices, which are cut or drilled in an BATF-approved manner so that they cannot be used as ammunition components for destructive devices, are not considered NFA weapons. This example is in total compliance and is NOT AVAILABLE FOR EXPORT.

This is a great example of the scare AN-M8 (HC) smoke grenade. It is used for smoke screening, target marking, and signalling, although the M18 colored smoke grenades are mainly used for the latter. HC stands for Hexachloroethane. The AN-M8 hand grenade produces harmful hydrochloric fumes that irritate the eyes, throat, and lungs.

The grenade is marked on the body:

AN-M8
SMOKE
HC

2022-65-I003

The top of the fuze is marked:

FUZE M201A1
2017 - 65 - 1007

The HC smoke of the M8 is more toxic than that of the M18 grenade. The fumes comprise an acidic smoke of zinc chloride (ZnCl2), which produces hydrochloric acid on contact with water.

This is a great example, the first of its kind we have offered. Comes ready to display.
