The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely cutaway example of the gas type, plastic CS “Riot Control” grenade known as the M25A2. The grenade is in wonderful condition and had a 1/4th of the structure removed to display the interior of the grenade. The grenade retains much of the original markings in red paint making this a fantastic offering.

Unloaded or dummy grenades, artillery shell casings, and similar devices, which are cut or drilled in an BATF-approved manner so that they cannot be used as ammunition components for destructive devices, are not considered NFA weapons. This example is in total compliance and is NOT AVAILABLE FOR EXPORT.

When it comes to designing a training program for military personnel, instructors are faced with several challenges. First, unlike athletes there is no off-season, most units are either preparing for deployment, deployed, or refitting from deployment. Secondly, training facilities vary from location to location and often focus on a single task. These tasks may include muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, field craft or marksmanship. Each of the above contribute to the success of an operation, however there is one area of training that is deficient. This deficiency is visual training; visual ability plays a larger role in achieving optimum performance than most military personnel realize. The goal of integrating visual training into an already packed curriculum is not to dilute it but to improve tactical performance.

To help users better understand the equipment they are using, examples like this cutaway were made. These were intended to give the users a look at the internal structure of the explosives, showing the different layers as well as where they connect or thread into each other.

The grenade has a powerful lachrymal effect and is irritating to the upper respiratory passages, causing coughing, difficulty in breathing and chest tightness. Heavy concentrations will cause nausea and vomiting as well. The onset of incapacitation is 15 to 30 seconds and duration from 30 minutes to several hours depending upon the dosage concentration. CS is more persistent and has a more severe reaction than CN. The grenade body is spherical and is made of two plastic hemispheres attached together. The two pieces together form a burster well and slider housing.

The fuze is a pyrotechnic delay-detonating type integral with the grenade body. The fuzing components consist of an arming sleeve, arming pin, firing spring, slider assembly, and firing pin. The grenade is assembled with a safety pin and pull ring which is still present on this example.

A lovely cutaway example used for training purposes, ready for further research and display.
