Original U.S. Vietnam War Era Inert M25A2 CS Gas Riot Control Grenade Shell in Partial Husk

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a roughexample of the bursting type, plastic CS “Riot Control” grenade known as the M25A2. The grenade is partial, missing the fuze and plugs entirely, just being the shell. The grenade is missing its markings but comes in a partial husk.

Unloaded or dummy grenades, artillery shell casings, and similar devices, which are cut or drilled in an BATF-approved manner so that they cannot be used as ammunition components for destructive devices, are not considered NFA weapons. Hand grenade riot CS1, ABC-M25A2 is a bursting type riot control agent grenade and may be used to simulate casualty agents during training.

The grenade has a powerful lachrymal effect and is irritating to the upper respiratory passages, causing coughing, difficulty in breathing and chest tightness. Heavy concentrations will cause nausea and vomiting as well. The onset of incapacitation is 15 to 30 seconds and duration from 30 minutes to several hours depending upon the dosage concentration. CS is more persistent and has a more severe reaction than CN. The grenade body is spherical and is made of two plastic hemispheres attached together. The two pieces together form a burster well and slider housing.

The fuze is a pyrotechnic delay-detonating type integral with the grenade body. The fuzing components consist of an arming sleeve, arming pin, firing spring, slider assembly, and firing pin. The slider assembly contains a primer, pyrotechnic delay column, and a detonator which are not present. The grenade is assembled with a safety pin and pull ring which is GONE on this example, all that is included is the shell and the husk it came in. The husk retains markings on the side:
