Original Item. Only One Available. This is an outstandingly scarce M-16 illuminated night sight developed during the Vietnam War. The sight has a very small glass with a small battery-operated bulb that would activate and display a reticle. The sight was meant for use in low-light areas and is in no way a “night vision” sight. This model is featured within the AR-15 Vickers Guide by Larry Vickers, but we do not have access to the book to find it. There is very little reference available on this sight.Â
The sight measures 5⅜” long and 2⅜” tall. The bottom nut can be screwed off to allow the sight to be attached via the carry handle. There is a very small wire leading from the bulb housing which shows wear and loss of covering. We are unsure if the sight is functional. Unscrewing the battery compartment shows that there is a spare bulb inside. The sight comes with an old plastic bag that may be the original depot bag it was in, but we cannot say for certain.
A great set, ready for further research and display!
