This is a wonderful pair of books that serves as a training and identification resource for American Soldiers on Vietcong booby traps, munitions, and organization. The books show the user the different types of booby traps, mines, anti-personnel/tank mines, organization of the VC and so on. These are the types of books that saved lives during the war and still continue to do so in today’s military.
The books include:
- U.S. Army Intelligence School “The Viet Cong Infrastructure: Modus Operandi of Selected Political Cadre”. Printed February 1970. This is a great 67-page publication that describes in detail the political and military infrastructure of the Viet Cong to the Military’s understanding in 1970, halfway through the war. A great piece.
- Viet Cong Mine Warfare: a good 47-page publication with good illustrations describing and depicting the various mines utilized by the VC, including the “little girl” mine which is just explosives strapped to a Vietnamese girl. A very interesting publication.
- TC 5-31 Department of the Army Training Circular: Viet Cong Boobytraps, Mines, and Mine Warfare Techniques. Published May 1967. This is a great 70-page Army issue booklet with good illustrations and information about Viet Cong traps and other equipment.
