The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice lightly worn example of a Vietnam War M-1C Airborne Paratrooper’s Helmet. These are getting harder and harder to find as time goes on, especially complete. This example has a name stenciled onto the sweatband, WARNER, JEFFREY, a great research project!

This Vietnam War Helmet M-1. The helmet shell has a set of swivel (movable) chinstrap loops called bales and a stainless steel rim. These rims were both rust resistant and had non-magnetic qualities that reduced the chance of error readings when placed around certain sensitive equipment (such as a compass). The helmet shows signs of being reconditioned in a military depot, which was common during the period for late WWII/Korean War helmets.

This helmet is a fine example and still retains most of its original Vietnam War parts, and the shell has the original dark OD Green finish. It is fitted with a very nice reversible camouflage cover, held in place by the rubber cut from an innertube that retains the cover, very popular with US Marines during the War.

The helmet still has the original OD Green chin strap, with the correct modified buckle implemented during the Korean war and used until M1 helmet production stopped.

The included reversible camouflage cover is in very good condition, complete with an M-151 "Mutt" Inner Tube Band, most often used by Marines. There is wear through around the edges, and overall fading present from years of storage and display.

The helmet liner is in decent original condition, showing signs of being worn in a hot humid environment. Markings are present on the liner suspension, and there is a name stenciled onto the sweatband. One side of the snaps for the paratrooper snap is backwards.

Comes ready for further research and display!
