The Story

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a tremendous rolled-up yardlong image, measuring 8 x 39”, which appears to depict members of Troop A, 7th Cavalry Regiment, stationed in Germany with the 3rd Army in 1919. There are nine crews of two manning their M1917 Browning Machine Guns, with several men riding motorcycles to the right end, one of whom has a German Shepherd in his lap.

The only indication of a unit in the yardlong is a swallowtail guidon which appears to be of the Cavalry formatting, reading 7 / A for Troop A of the 7th Cavalry Regiment. This is interesting, as we were under the impression that the 7th did not serve overseas, as men from the regiment fought against Pancho Villa in the Battle of Ciudad Juárez in June 1919. This is a great opportunity for further research!

The photograph is very crisp, and German building signs can be seen in the background. These photos took an unbelievable amount of planning to prepare.

This example would look best in a frame, but it is currently rolled up and does have some areas of bending or weakness. A really great photograph with machine gunners, motorcycle riders, and more! Comes ready for framing and display!
