Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is a great pair of WWI Training swords, an extremely scarce M1913 “Wicker Basket” cavalry training sword with a spare “blade”. The wicker basket guards were “slide-on” and fit perfectly onto the end of the blade. There are grooves in the wooden blade so it’s known where to hold.
The blades measure roughly 41½” and are marked R.I.A. 1913. The wicker basket guard is woven with two small slits for the blade to slide through, and the thickness of the blade is just enough to stop the basket at the “pommel”. The basket measures roughly 7” in diameter and 4½” tall. The wooden blades have heavy wear and scuffing from period use. These are extraordinarily difficult to find with the original wicker basket, as they often fell apart after repeated usage.
This is a really great training sword with a spare blade and incredibly scarce wicker basket guard. Perfect for any WWI or sword collection. Comes ready for further research and display.
