The Story
Original Items. Very Few Available. Officially adopted in 1917, this mirror was intended to be attached to the rifle bayonet with its integral bracket on the mirror's rear for observation purposes from trench positions. Heavy casualties had been sustained before these mirrors were issued. Complete with folding cover. These were also used in WWII by G.I.'s; Remember that scene in Saving Private Ryan?
We offer reproductions of these trench mirrors, but now we are happy to offer a small selection of original examples! These are all in heavily service-worn condition, and the door has broken off of one example. They are all a bit rusted and are the real deal. The mirrors are all still intact although some are heavily worn. We would not recommend opening the doors of the closed example as the hinges are very oxidized!
