The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice WWI production Model 1913 Cavalry Saber. Unlike most we have seen, it was not made by Springfield Armory, but instead by private contractor Landers, Frary & Clark (L.F. & C.) of New Britain, CT., who also made the 1917 and Mark 1 pattern "Trench" knuckle knives. This example is marked on the ricasso with:

and on the reverse with:

Blade condition is very good, with a wonderful patina, and only a few nicks on the edge though it does appear to have been cleaned. Minor pitting but no other major corrosion, just the usual light staining from age. The hilt and grip appear to have been painted black at one point which could be removed with some work.

Canvas on the scabbard is intact with staining from age and was clear coated at some point, giving it a very solid feel. The heavy steel guard is in great shape besides the over-paint. One of the more iconic models of U.S. Sabers, ready for further research and display!
