The Story

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is the World War I Victory Medal of Private First Class William F. McQueen, Company L, 147th Infantry Regiment, 37th Division. McQueen saw combat in the Ypres-Lys and Meuse-Argonne Offensives as well as the Defensive Sector. He was from Oakland, Illinois, was born on May 1st, 1894, and passed away on November 26th, 1964.

The medal is in good working order with the pin still functional. The medal comes in its original shipping box addressed to McQueen, incorrectly listing his middle initial as C, when it’s actually F. The address is the same as it is in his transportation log, however, so we are certain that this is his, and it comes with a printed photograph of his gravestone.

This is a lovely identified example of a Victory Medal to a 37th Division veteran. Comes ready for further research and display.
