Original U.S. WWI Named Central Records Uniform Jacket & Breeches with Extremely Rare Bullion Patch - James Garland Clements

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is the uniform of Private First Class James Garland Clements, who served with Company E, Central Records Office, Army Service Corps in France during World War I. Clements’ uniform has a great example of the extremely scarce French-made Central Records patch, with a bullion American eagle over a red white and blue shield on a black felt backing.

The jacket has U.S. & Company E Collar discs, one overseas chevron, and an honorable discharge chevron. The name J.G. Clements is written under the collar, and there is a note in the pocket naming it to Garland Clements, identifying the soldier as James Garland Clements. The uniform has some issues, including heavy mothing in spots across the uniform. The patch also has some light damage in the embroidery of the shield. Two of the front buttons are missing, but one is in the top right pocket. The jacket has a tag under the lining with a contract date of January 8th, 1918. This combined with the heavy staining to the interior prove this was the uniform Clements wore overseas. 

The included breeches are in good order with some moth damage. They retain their buttons and are named along the waistband J.G. Clements, making this a great matching set. Clements was from Cartersville, Virginia.
