The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. The 101st Airborne Division’s “Screaming Eagles” nickname originates from their insignia – a bald eagle on a black shield. The eagle on the patch is named “Old Abe” in honor of President Abraham Lincoln and was originally the mascot of a Wisconsin regiment during the Civil War.

This is a lovely original WWII Type 4 example with an original rocker. The rocker on this example is detached as most are. Does not glow under a black-light indicating pre-1945 production.

There is a small note to the back reading LEON HILL D/506 which would name the patch to a Leon Hill of Company D, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. A good research project.
