The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a genuine World War II Propaganda (U.S. Government Printing Office, 1943). OWI Poster No. 36 "A Careless Word… a Needless Loss." The poster is unframed and has some tearing along the original fold creases from when it was originally shipped to where it would be displayed.

Bottom border of the poster reads:

OWI Poster- No. 36, Additional copies may be obtained upon request from the Division of Public Inquiries, office of War Information, Washington D.C., U.S. Government Printing Office: 1943-O-506018

This poster was designed by Aaron Otto Fischer and printed by the United States Government Printing Office in Washington, DC, dated 1943. The poster shows a dead sailor in the water along a beach with the caption, "a careless word... / A NEEDLESS LOSS."

The Poster has been folded, as it was originally for mailing to various government locations around the country. The folds have some tearing at the edges, especially at the center. Good condition with almost full color retention.
