The Story
Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Group. This is an outstanding little grouping identified to Sergeant Edward McGraw, who served in the Pacific Theater of Operations with the 37th Infantry Division and later the Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC). The set includes some photos, a captured Japanese flag, a 37th ID patch, and a postcard book.
The set comes with a letter typed by Joe McGraw, a descendant of Edward, which notes much of his service overseas.
The group includes:
- Three photographs of McGraw overseas. In one photo he holds up a Japanese flag that is very likely the flag in this exact group. In another shot, he wears an MP Military Police armband in New Guinea in 1943.
- Small Baguio Mountain Province postcard book. Copyright 1936.
- 37th Infantry Division patch.Â
- 23¼ x 33¼” Japanese national meatball flag with several Temple stamps. Great multi-piece construction with red sun a separate piece. Retains both corner tie pieces. Some faint Japanese writing.
- Pictorial Sixth Army News, showing photos of the Battle of Baguio.
An outstanding set with a captured Japanese flag that likely have photographic provenance! Comes ready for display.
