The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. The M83 Illuminating Cartridge (ILL) was a pyrotechnic parachute flare shell used in night missions requiring illumination for assistance in observation.

Totally inert and demilitarized according to BATF guidelines with hollow body and inert fuse. This mortar round cannot be converted to an explosive devise and is not available for export.

This is a very rare 1943-dated 60mm illumination mortar designed for use with the U.S. 60mm M2 Mortar. This example is offered in very good condition, with original markings on the M65 time fuze reading: LOT PA-36-16 10-43    TIME FUZE, M65.

The body is void of markings, so the paint has worn away long ago. The bottom of the tail assembly also has a 1943 date.

A great chance to pick up a scarce WWII dated deactivated mortar shell!
