The Story

Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Group. This is the outstanding garrison cap, yard long, and insignia grouping of Technical Sergeant Dalton C. Spoonemore, Company M, 325th Glider Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. Interestingly, Spoonemore’s garrison cap has Military Police piping, 

The group includes:

- Great U.S. Garrison cap with Military Police piping and Paraglider red white and blue patch. Laundry numbered S2625 which is what identifies the grouping to Spoonemore. His serial number is 20812625. Much work was put into this identification. 
- Great yardlong unit photo of Company M, 325th GIR after returning from overseas on April 13th, 1946. Guidon for Company M is visible on the left side. Measures 10 x 17⅜”.
- Gorgeous set of 325th GIR Distinctive Insignia, both back-marked for R. Newcomb & Co. of NYC. Pinback.
- Ruptured Duck patch.
- Six 82nd Airborne Division patches in varying conditions.
- 13th Airborne Division patch
- 3 Detached black & yellow Airborne rockers.
- One detached white and blue Airborne rocker.
- Paraglider red white and blue garrison cap patch.
- Two infantry collar discs.
- One U.S. collar disc.
- Army belt buckle with Eagle superimposed on top. 
- Two Technical Sergeant chevrons.
- Three place ribbon bar with Good Conduct Medal, E-A-ME Campaign medal, and WWII Victory medal.
- Three loose ribbons, one is red white and blue with crossed pistols.
- Enlisted visor cap badge.
- Letterhead for 325th Glider Infantry Regiment with man parachuting in foreground. 7¼ x 10½”.
- Separate envelope with man parachuting in foreground with three more pieces of 325th GIR letterhead.
- Paratrooper wings, early construction marked STERLING. Pin is missing entirely.
- Airborne Paratrooper oval with embroidered paratrooper wings.
- Great yardlong unit photo of Company M, 325th GIR after returning from overseas on April 13th, 1946. Guidon for Company M is visible on the left side. Measures 10 x 17⅜”. 

Dalton Charles Spoonemore was born in Greenville, Texas on Sept. 23, 1922, the son of John Wesley and Ada Lou Abott Spoonemore. On Dec. 22,1945, in Rockwall, he married his wife, Dollie. He first enlisted in the Army on November 25th, 1940, being assigned to Company M, 325th Glider Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. At some point, he joined the Military Police as shown by the piping on his garrison cap. He was discharged on October 28th, 1945. A month later, he reenlisted, on November 20th, 1945, serving another 3 years before being discharged on October 26th, 1948. He passed away on January 15th, 1995 at the age of 72.
