Original Item. Only One Available. In a directive dated 26 November 1944, Lieutenant-General James H. Doolittle, then Commanding General, Eighth Air Force, requested a report of the development of the Eighth Air Force for the Commanding General, Army Air Forces and to be used as a background for tactical study by the Air Force Tactical School. This report, "Eighth Air Force- Tactical Development- August 1942 - May 1945" was prepared under the direction of Major General Orvil A. Anderson, former Deputy Commander for Operations, Eighth Air Force. It is believed that the report is sound in its statements and conclusions, and that it offers valuable information to anyone reviewing the combat activities of the Eighth Air Force during the air war against Germany.
This is a great copy of the 8th AF Tactical Development, measuring 12 ¾ x 15 ¼”, with CONFIDENTIAL and RESTRICTED stamped on the cover. The interior shows that this was classified as SECRET on July 9th, 1945 by the 8th Air Force Commanding General. On December 20th, 1945, it was downgraded to CONFIDENTIAL, and on November 1st, 1950, it was downgraded again to RESTRICTED. These downgrades are shown on one of the first pages, great material.
A fantastic book, ready for further research and display!
