The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent example of a rare Mid-War issue M2 Paratrooper pocket knife with plastic imitation "jigged bone" grip scales. These are very difficult to find in any condition, as they were quickly replaced with the metal scaled version. This example is marked STAINLESS on one side of the ricasso, which may have been done for commercial or export purposes.

The knife is fully functional, and is marked on the bottom of the blade ricasso as follows:

SCHRADE
WALDEN
N.Y., U.S.A.

The other side is marked:

STAINLESS

We have only found one other example with the STAINLESS marking, but it is certainly a No. 5. These markings are thought to be for a wartime knife made for commercial or export use. It bears the desirable black plastic "jigged bone" handles. This example measures 7 3/8" when open, with the blade measuring 3 1/8". Closed it measures 4 ¼ inches long.

A great example, ready for display!

Dimensions:
Blade length: 3 1/8”
Blade Style: Clip Point Knife
Overall length closed: 4 1/4”
Overall length open: 7 3/8"

Worn in the breast pocket of the Paratrooper M2 Jump Jacket these knives were intended for paratroopers to cut there parachute cords and anything else if they got entangled during a jump. Exceedingly rare and hard to find. For further research about these knives and how to tell WW2 knives from post war (this example is 100% WWII) visit the forum at this link:  WWII Airborne Switchblades

NOTE: This knife is definitely considered a "Switchblade", so check local laws before ordering.
