Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic example of the Model 1942 Company Field Desk. This table top fold out desk was repainted with added markings, but has both leather side handles still intact, as well as the lock on the top, though it is in the locked position and we don’t have the key, so it can’t be unlocked and inserted in. The two closure latches on the outside are fully functional, and both hinges on the "top" work as well. The desk measures approximately 20” x 10 ½” x 19 ½”.
The desk retains several books inside along with an interesting Quartermaster Corps shipping tag, not filled out. The books include
- The Registrar of the Medical Department US Army.
- Company Administration Including Supply & Mess Management and Personnel Records - 12th Edition July 1942. Named to S/Sgt. Al. H. Cieslak, 1943.
- The Officer’s Guide, 9th Edition.Â
- Technical Manual Medical Department Soldier’s Handbook, March 5, 1941. Named S/Sgt. V.L. Wilson.
-TM 8-615, Gasoline Stoves and Burners. May 1945.Â
- Notes on Tank Defiles and Road Blocks, OCC-No.3.6-2A.
- Three empty War Department envelopes.
The desk has a replicated US / 1943 stencil. The interior top drawer is intact but one of the two plastic pull rings are missing. The straps are retained but very weak and already starting to tear, so do not carry the desk by these! Comes ready for further research and display.
