The Story

Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is a great lot of WWII autographs including three General’s signatures, and two fantastic AAF photos with signatures.

The lot includes:

- 8 x 9⅞” Photo of the B-17 “Memphis Belle” crew, for the 50th Anniversary in 1993. It is signed in the top left corner by Robert Morgan, the pilot of Memphis Belle.
- 4 x 6” photo of two men in front of the P-51D Mustang fighter “Saturday Night” signed by Crew Chief T/SGT Jim Seibert and Walter Konantz of the 55th Fighter Group, 8th Air Force. Small bit torn off top left.
- 8 x 9⅞” portrait of  Medal of Honor Recipient James Doolittle. His citation reads:
For conspicuous leadership above the call of duty, involving personal valor and intrepidity at an extreme hazard to life. With the apparent certainty of being forced to land in enemy territory or to perish at sea, Gen. Doolittle personally led a squadron of Army bombers, manned by volunteer crews, in a highly destructive raid on the Japanese mainland. This is a great portrait taken by Mutual of Omaha, with the back stating the photo was by Jim Sloan.
- 8 x 10” portrait of General J. Lawton Collins. During World War II, he served in both the Pacific and European Theaters of Operations, one of a few senior American commanders to do so. He was Chief of Staff of the United States Army during the Korean War. Autograph done in 1984.
- 5½ x 8½” letter signed by J. Lawton Collins. During World War II, he served in both the Pacific and European Theaters of Operations, one of a few senior American commanders to do so. He was Chief of Staff of the United States Army during the Korean War. Letter sent in 1978.

A great set of autographs, ready for further research and display!
