The Story

Original Items. Only One Lot of Three Available. This is a lovely lot of three U.S. WWII posters, two of which are from the U.S. Army’s “Camouflage Blinds the Enemy” series, which encouraged soldiers to spend time on their camouflage tactics for use in the field. The third poster is a very interesting Chemical Warfare Agent Identification chart.

The first poster depicts a soldier lying in a field, one in the open with light shining down on him, and the other under a tree’s shadow, the correct way to lie prone in the field. The caption reads … GET IN THE SHADOW. This example measures 13½ x 20”, but it appears someone folded down some of the edges to get it to fit in a smaller frame, and the right side edge has heavy material loss from the edges coming off. There are also tears along the edges. This example would look fine in a frame.

The second poster depicts a German soldier walking forward with a blindfold around his eyes, with the caption CAMOUFLAGE BLINDS THE ENEMY. If he can’t see you, he can’t hit you. This example also measures 13½ x 20”, but it appears someone folded down some of the edges to get it to fit in a smaller frame, and the right side edge has heavy material loss from the edges coming off. There are also tears along the edges. This example would look fine in a frame.

The final poster is a fantastic reference for chemical warfare agents used during the war, what their projectiles look like, and their effects. The poster measures 12½ x 17” but does have a large tear on the left side due to folding, so this one will need proper framing. There is also edge damage. This is certainly the best of the three.

A great lot of WWII posters, ready for further research and display.
