Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Group. This is an outstanding group of scrapbook pages belonging to Major Richard B. Sinclair of the 13th Field Artillery Observation Battalion, which includes an outstanding SHAEF Eisenhower Letter Sent to the Troops Before D-Day which is attached to a letterhead for LST 371, the first SHAEF letter we have offered which was unit-addressed! Also included is a great captured German armband, photographs, newspaper clippings, and some outstanding documentation.
The group consists of nine large 11¼ x 15½” scrapbook pages and two smaller scrapbook pages. Most of the pages are double-sided.
One page has a poem called “Accident in the Allied Camp” over a great captured SA Armband with a rayon circle & swas and an RZM tag inside! On the other side of this page is a Souvenir Program for a 1945 Revue called “Anything Goes” with some great soldier humor.
The next page shows the SHAEF letter, measuring 6 x 9⅛” and attached to a letterhead reading U.S.S. LST 371. The letterhead measures roughly 8 x 10½”.  The other side of this page has a small fragment of a yellow flag attached with newspaper clippings surrounding it.Â
Another page has a great shot of Major Richard B. Sinclair being awarded the Bronze Star by Brig. Gen. Williston Palmer, Commanding General of the Seventh Corps Artillery. On this same page is a great foldout booklet with Commendations for the 13th Field Artillery Observation Battalion, Maj. R.B. Sinclair commanding. A fascinating read about a unit that landed on Utah Beach June 6th, 1944!
The other pages include newspaper clippings, photographs, other documents, and one page even has a captured German NSKOV badge, for a German WWI Veterans organization. There are also pieces of captured French money with some small bits of ephemera as well.
An outstanding ephemera group with a great SHAEF D-Day letter and captured German armband! Ready for further research and display.
