Original Item. Only One Available. This is a fascinating piece of WWII homefront ephemera, a “Know Your Airplanes” Plane-O-Graph Recognition Board. The dial consists of two die-cut wheels held together w/rivet at center. When top wheel is spun, die-cut opening reveals different warplane illustration along w/in-flight silhouette. Top wheel also lists the names of some featured planes, including P-51 Mustang, B-17 Flying Fortress, P-40 Tomahawk, P-38 Lightning, P-39 Airacobra and others. The front has a Copyright date of 1942.
The piece measures roughly 13” in diameter and is missing a piece at the top and bottom which were ripped away. The back of the piece features 20 different squadron insignias surrounding large Army Air Corps star. There is heavy wear across the piece, but it is overall a great piece of ephemera that will fit well into any WWII Collection.
