Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice identified USMC P-41 Uniform set, including a named jacket, trousers, belt, HBT cap, and boots. The set is comprised of the following:
- One WW2 USMC US Marine Corps P41 USMC Combat Uniform Field Utility Jacket in Olive Drab. These loose fitting sage green herringbone twill (HBT) cotton jackets feature, original “doughnut hole” USMC buttons (all buttons present), gas flap, chest pocket with flap, internal breast pocket, and a CRISP stenciled black USMC EGA insignia. The jacket is very faintly stenciled above the breast pocket J.J. WADE JR. for Lieutenant and later Colonel John J. Wade Jr., part of the USMC Artillery. He served as Marine Gunner with the 10th Defense Battalion, First Marine Amphibious Corps, then as Captain with Headquarters and Service Battery, First Battalion, Tenth Marines, Second Marine Division, Fmf, in the Field. He then commanded Btry B, (75mm Gun) 1st Bn., 10th Marines. He was awarded 2 Presidential Unit Citations, and fought heavily at Guadalcanal and Tarawa.
- One WW2 USMC US Marine Corps P41 USMC Combat Uniform Field Utility pants in Olive Drab. These loose fitting sage green herringbone twill (HBT) cotton pants feature, original buttons, hip pockets, two open rear pockets. Also includes the belt. No markings that we can find.
- HBT Fatigue Hat roughly in Size 6 Âľ with no tag. Good shape overall with wear.
- One Pair Size 5½E Marine Corps “Boondockers” Boots. Marked 5½E. Great pair in service-worn condition with laces intact on one boot but they are missing on the other. Very faint markings inside but they appear to be May 18th, 1943.
John J. Wade Jr. was born on August 5th, 1918. He first enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 1941, and only four months later he received his reserve commission, being awarded his regular commission in November 1941. He was assigned to a field artillery combat unit and promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. He completed a course in base defense weapons on January 31st, 1942. He served as Marine Gunner with the 10th Defense Battalion, First Marine Amphibious Corps, then as Captain with Headquarters and Service Battery, First Battalion, Tenth Marines, Second Marine Division, Fmf, in the Field. He then commanded Btry B, (75mm Gun) 1st Bn., 10th Marines. He was awarded 2 Presidential Unit Citations, and fought heavily at Guadalcanal and Tarawa. He served in the Korean War as well. He retired from the Marines as a Colonel and passed away on November 10th, 1993.
This is a phenomenal grouping with some great history! Comes ready for further research and display!
