The Story
Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely OD Green #3 M1923 canvas rifle sling, designed during the interwar period for use with the M1903 Springfield Rifle, but also used with the M1917 Enfield, M1 Garand Rifle and Thompson SMG. The sling design was highly adjustable, and using the 4 slot buckle and other hardware, it was able to be configured into 4 different lengths. Unfortunately due to the somewhat complex configuration, it was superseded easily by the M1 Garand web sling that we are all familiar with today.
This example is complete and fully functional, and is marked S.M. CO. / 1942. The sling does show signs of use but nothing too extensive. There is no visible damage but the sling itself is lightly stained with age toning present.
A fine example, ready to mount to your rifle!
