Original U.S. WWII M4 Bayonet by Camillus for the M1 Carbine with Vietnam War M8A1 Scabbard

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good condition genuine WWII U.S. Army M4 Carbine bayonet fighting knife, with an original M8A1 scabbard. Nicely marked U.S. M4 / CAMILLUS on the blade side of the hand guard. The guard is the narrow version and not the post war wide version. The blade is in great condition, showing faithful use, with heavy retention of the finish. The crossguard, handle, and pommel are all tight to the blade.

The bayonet still has the original WWII issue leather washer grip. The pommel is held on by the correct peened over tang with the lovely “starburst” peen pattern on the end of the tang. The grip does not show much wear, just a bit of drying out from decades of storage. The pommel locking mechanism is fully functional and moves easily. An excellent example of a WWII M4 bayonet.

The original scabbard is marked U.S. M8A1 / T.W.B. and is in very good condition with no major defects to note. The canvas is very good, with just a bit of dirt and staining, and there is very little wear and light scratching on the scabbard shell. TWB are the initials used by the Pennsylvania Working Home for the Blind in 1969-1970, so the scabbard dates to the Vietnam War.

A very nice example of a late-war M4 knife, ready to add to your WWII or Vietnam War edged weapon collection!
