Original U.S. WWII M4 Bayonet by Kinfolks for the M1 Carbine with M8 Scabbard

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good condition genuine WWII U.S. Army M4 Carbine bayonet fighting knife, with an original M8 scabbard. Nicely marked U.S. M4 / K.I. on the blade side of the hand guard for Kinfolks, underneath on the blade side is the U.S. Ordnance "Flaming Bomb". This is an original WWII example and not a “Korean Industries” bayonet. When Kinfolks produced these bayonets during the war, the “Flaming Bomb” was located on the underside of the crossguard, the Korean made ones are usually located on the top of the guard next to the K.I. stamp. The guard is the narrow version and not the post war wide version. The blade is in good condition, showing heavy use and sharpening which has worn away some of the finish. The crossguard, handle, and pommel are all tight to the blade.

The bayonet still has the original WWII issue leather washer grip which shows heavy wear and material loss. The pommel is held on by the correct peened over tang, which with the flaming bomb proves this is definitely a WWII example, and not a later reissue. There is heavy oxidation.

The original scabbard is marked, U.S. M8A1 / B.M. CO and in very good condition with no major defects to note. This is the later version of the scabbard. The canvas is very good, with a bit of wear, and the finish on the snaps on the frog has worn. The thermoplastic impregnated duck canvas body is very good, with great paint, but there is heavy wear overall with some discoloration in the body below the throat. The scabbard was manufactured by Beckwith Mfg Co. a division of Victory Plastics. There is a great leather leg tie down still attached to the scabbard.

A very nice example of an M4 bayonet from a scarce maker, ready to add to your WWII edged weapon collection!
