The Story

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is the lovely uniform jacket & overseas cap of Sergeant Bruno G. DeSantis, Company I, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, who was wounded twice while serving in the Pacific Theater. The uniform comes with a folder with dozens of printed pages of deep research into DeSantis, including documents you can only obtain by going in person to the archives.

The uniform jacket has a 1941-1942 Quartermaster stamp on the interior left sleeve, and the opposite interior sleeves is stamped B.G. DE SANTIS. The jacket bears Sergeant chevrons on the sleeves, a 4th Marine Division patch on the left shoulder, EGA collar insignia, a Ruptured duck honorable discharge patch above the right breast pocket, and a 5-place ribbon bar over the left breast pocket with the Purple Heart, Navy Presidential Unit Citation with a star, the American Campaign medal, the Asiatic Campaign medal with three campaign stars, and the WWII Victory Medal. The jacket retains its belt.

The included overseas cap retains its EGA and is faintly stamped under the chinstrap to a different marine.

The folder of research includes photos of DeSantis, letters to his family about his wound, which note that he was first wounded on Saipan in June 1944, and in July 1944 sustained shrapnel wounds of the hand at Tinian Island, Marianas Islands.

A fantastic Marine uniform identified to a Twice-wounded Pacific veteran, ready for further research and display.
