The Story

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a fantastically unique piece of headgear, a WWII Officer’s visor cap with a theater-made wicker crown & body, with an OD Green hat band on top of the wicker. This is one of the most interesting visors we have ever seen. There is a name stamped onto the sweatband multiple times with a small name card that corresponds, reading CAPT. R.A. FLOYD. This makes for a great research project.

The cap features wicker frame construction and a leather sweatband which is supple and complete, although it is mostly detached from the cap. This peaked cap features a gold tone WWII Army Overseas insignia over a leather visor with a leather chinstrap seated upon it. The cap is not size marked, but is likely a size 7, and was most likely bespoke, so there is no maker marking.

This is a great and unique piece, worthy of further research! We are sure that the cap could be identified eventually.
