Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is the uniform jacket & trousers of Sergeant Earl Jack Moore, Company B, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, who fought in the Pacific theater during World War II. Moore was wounded in action on May 10th, 1945 with a fracture of the right collarbone on Okinawa.
The uniform jacket has a 1941-1942 Quartermaster stamp on the interior left sleeve, and the opposite interior sleeves is inscribed E.J. MOORE. The jacket bears Sergeant chevrons on the sleeves, a 1st Marine Division patch on the left shoulder, EGA collar insignia, a Ruptured duck honorable discharge patch hand-stitched above the right breast pocket, and a 5-place ribbon bar over the left breast pocket with the Purple Heart, Marine Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic Campaign medal with two campaign stars, the American Campaign medal, and the WWII Victory Medal.
The included trousers are also inscribed on the interior waistband E.J. MOORE. There is some moth damage to the trousers and in spots on the jacket.
The uniform comes with a packet of 50+ pages of printed research on Moore, acquired from the National Archives. There are photos of Moore, service records, documents relating to his wounds, correspondence sent to his family by the Marines, etc. These documents are very difficult to find, and it is lucky that the group has so much information with it.
Earl Jack Moore was born on May 29th, 1921 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He first enlisted in the Marine Corps on January 6th, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for a period of four years. He saw heavy combat overseas in the Pacific Theater, being wounded in action on May 10th, 1945 on Okinawa Island. He was discharged on January 8th, 1946 at the end of his enlistment period. His specialties were as a Machine Gun crewman. Moore passed away on January 27th, 2001 at the age of 79.
This is a fantastic 1st Marine Division uniform group to an Okinawa-wounded Marine with a great deal of research. Ready to display!
