The attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 ignited not only anger towards the enemy, it also sparked a wildfire of patriotism in every American in all corners of the country. As the war effort was kicked into overdrive, Americans did everything they could to remind each other why they were fighting and what could be lost. A prime example of these reminders is this item you are looking at here. It is very patriotic in nature and design, bearing the slogan “Remember Pearl Harbor”. In the early years of WWII how could you not remember Pearl Harbor?
This is a great ceramic glaze mug or “stein” made in the U.S. following the attack on Pearl Harbor. The mug measures roughly 6 ⅛” tall with a 4” diameter base. The mug depicts Pearl Harbor from afar on one side with the other side showing a Japanese plane diving to attack a sinking ship. The center has an American flag with a shield reading:
