Original U.S. WWII Purple Heart & Bronze Star Medal Lot Including Engraved Bronze Star to Albert W. Hughes Jr. - 5 Medals Total

Original Items: Only One Lot of 5 Available. This is a fantastic assortment of US Military medals, featuring a very nice engraved Bronze Star Medal. The tradition of awarding medals to America's military men and women dates to the American Revolution. On Aug. 7, 1782, Gen. George Washington established the first authorized US military decoration—the Badge of Military Merit, which eventually transformed into the Purple Heart medal we are familiar with today.

The Medals In This Lot:

- 3 Purple Hearts - There are three Purple Heart Medals in this group, two of which are not numbered, and the third of which is numbered 274444 and also has an Oak Leaf Cluster denoting a 2nd award. The OLC is period-applied and this is a great set of Purple Hearts. One of the unnumbered PH has heavy wear and loss of stitching to the back.
- 2 Bronze Stars - There are two Bronze Stars, the first of which is blank and not engraved. The second bronze star is beautifully-engraved to Albert W. Hughes Jr., who from what we found lived in Rome, New York and saw service in the Korean War as well as WWII. A great opportunity for further research.
